The inspiration for my work comes from illuminating what often goes unnoticed- intimate, close-up views of subjects that reveal interesting shapes, textures and patterns. I like to explore the push and pull of 3D rendering against flatter 2D abstract forms.

Heightened expressive color is a primary focus in my painting. I love the sensuous experience of color. My designs are organized by patterns of light and dark color contrasts, chromatic vibrations between warm and cool colors, or contrasts between complimentary hues like red and green, for example.

Since moving to the Pacific Northwest, I have become enamored with native Madrona trees. The peeling bark, warm colors and sensuous forms are provocative and mysterious. The sublime beauty of the Madrona is a subject I frequently explore.
